Indian badminton players Thulasimathi Murugesan and Manisha Ramadass secured their first Paralympics medals in the women’s singles SU5 category on Monday. Thulasimathi, the top seed, fought valiantly but lost 17-21, 10-21 to China's defending champion Yang Qiuxia in the final, claiming the silver medal. On an adjacent court, second seed Manisha Ramadass dominated Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren, winning 21-12, 21-8 to secure the bronze. The SU5 category features athletes with upper limb impairments. These victories follow Nitesh Kumar’s historic badminton gold in the SL3 category for India at the Paris Paralympics.
