A Kolkata court has granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) eight days' custody of Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in connection with a corruption case involving financial misconduct. Ghosh, along with his security guard and two vendors, was arrested on charges including illegal sale of unclaimed corpses and trafficking of biomedical waste. The CBI sought custody to uncover the "large nexus" involved. The case gained traction following allegations by the hospital's former deputy superintendent, Dr. Akhtar Ali, leading to a transfer of the investigation to the CBI.
