Security forces in Manipur launched a massive combing operation after five people were killed in fresh violence in Jiribam. Militants, using drones and rockets, attacked civilian areas. Large caches of weapons, including sniper rifles, mortars, and explosives, were seized. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh held an emergency meeting with ruling coalition MLAs and briefed Governor L Acharya. Anti-drone systems were deployed, and three militant bunkers were destroyed. The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity declared an indefinite emergency in response to escalating violence. Ethnic clashes between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups have killed over 200 people since May 2023.
