Indian boxer Deepali Thapa made history by becoming the first Asian schoolgirl champion at the Asian Championships in Al Ain, UAE. Competing in the 33kg category, Thapa defeated Kazakhstan's Anelya Ordabek and Ukraine's Liudmyla Vasylchenko to secure the title. India's exceptional performance included seven female titles, with victories by Bhoomi (35kg), Nischal Sharma (37kg), and Rakhi (43kg). Despite a loss by Laxmi Manjunath Lamani (40kg), India’s dominance was evident among participants from 26 nations, solidifying their position in Asian women’s boxing.
