India has reported its first Mpox case, with the infected individual confirmed to have contracted the West African clade 2 virus. The patient, who traveled from a country experiencing an Mpox outbreak, showed symptoms upon return and has since been isolated. Authorities have initiated contact tracing and are managing the case according to established protocols. Although Mpox, particularly the new Clade 1b variant in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is causing international concern, this isolated case is not part of the current public health emergency. The patient is stable and poses no immediate risk to the public.
