Manipur Unrest: Mobile Internet Banned, Curfew Imposed

The Manipur government has banned mobile internet services in five districts for five days to prevent the spread of misinformation after a recent drone attack. An indefinite curfew is in place in Imphal, but over 1,000 students defied it to protest the attack. Security forces used tear gas and fired in the air to disperse them. The students met with the Governor, presenting a six-point demand, and he promised to discuss it with the Centre. Meanwhile, two fresh CRPF battalions have been deployed to Manipur, adding 2,000 troops to the state, which has seen violence since May last year.
