The Indian government has expanded the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) to include citizens aged 70 and above, offering universal health coverage. Senior citizens will receive free health insurance of up to ₹5 lakh per family annually, benefiting around 6 crore individuals. Additionally, those already under public health schemes can opt to stay or switch to AB PM-JAY. Announced by Prime Minister Modi, this initiative is aimed at enhancing geriatric care across the country. Eligible seniors will also receive a special AB PM-JAY card to access the scheme's benefits.
