Two trainee army officers and their female friends were brutally attacked by eight men near Jam Gate, Indore, on Tuesday evening. The assailants, who initially intended to rob, viciously assaulted the group, gang-raped one woman, and stole their belongings. Two accused have been arrested, one with a prior criminal record. The officers, undergoing training at Mhow Army College, were held hostage and forced to fetch a ₹10 lakh ransom. Medical examination confirmed the rape. Police are investigating the heinous crime.
