West Bengal Government Removes Burdwan Medical College Dean Following Protests by Junior Doctors

The West Bengal government has removed Tapash Ghosh, dean of students’ welfare at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMCH), following protests by junior doctors and students demanding his resignation. Ghosh is accused of being close to Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College, and of threatening junior doctors. Additionally, Dr. Nupur Ghosh of BMCH's Obstetrics Department has been transferred to Gopiballavpur Multi Super Specialty Hospital, and her husband, Dr. Avik De, was suspended last week. Another BMCH doctor, Birupaksha Biswas, was also suspended. Both doctors are allegedly connected to Sandip Ghosh and are facing accusations from junior staff.
