West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made an unannounced visit to the protesting junior doctors outside Swasthya Bhawan, where they have been demonstrating over the rape and murder of a trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College. Banerjee urged the doctors to return to work and assured them she would examine their demands. She promised to take action if anyone is found guilty in the case. Banerjee stated she visited them as their "Didi," not just as the Chief Minister, and expressed concern for their safety after protesting in the rain. Despite her assurances, the doctors have yet to agree to end the protest.
