Ahead of launching his new political party, Jan Suraaj, on October 2, Prashant Kishor pledged to abolish Bihar's liquor ban "within an hour" if elected. Kishor criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s prohibition policy, calling it a “sham” that has led to illegal home deliveries and cost the state ₹20,000 crore in excise revenue. He accused politicians and bureaucrats of profiting from the illegal trade. Kishor confirmed Jan Suraaj will contest all 243 seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, aiming for a merit-based political approach.
