A Supreme Court hearing on the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College recorded the attendance of 210 lawyers on September 9. The case, involving multiple legal matters, saw a high number of appearances due to the involvement of various petitioners and intervenors. The bench, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, addressed issues such as infrastructure concerns and junior doctors’ protests. Senior advocate Milon Mukherjee stated that the volume of participants increased due to the combination of several Public Interest Litigations (PILs).
