The Supreme Court told the West Bengal government that restricting women doctors from working night shifts violates their right to equal opportunities. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud emphasized that the government's duty is to provide protection, not limit their work. He cited examples of women pilots and defence personnel working at night, adding, "Women want equal opportunities, not concessions." This came during a case about the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. The court also ordered Wikipedia to remove the victim’s name and photograph.
