Manoj Kumar Verma has been appointed as the new Kolkata Police Commissioner, succeeding Vineet Kumar Goyal, who is now the Additional Director General of West Bengal's Special Task Force. The state government also announced transfers for several other senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Gupta and Director of Medical Education Kaustav Nayak. Verma, previously the DC (Traffic) of Kolkata, is known for his crisis management skills and led a significant anti-Maoist operation in the past.
