The Union Cabinet approved the 'One Nation One Election' proposal, moving towards simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The bill is likely to be introduced in the winter session of Parliament. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed that the plan will be implemented in two phases. The high-level committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind recommended 18 constitutional amendments for its implementation. While the BJP pushes for this reform, opposition parties, including Congress and AAP, argue it will benefit the ruling party, calling it a "jumla."
