Shashi Tharoor Proposes 40-Hour Work Week After EY Employee's Death

A 26-year-old Ernst & Young (EY) employee, Anna Sebastian Perayil, died allegedly due to work pressure. Her mother, Anita Augustine, wrote to EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani, criticizing the firm's overwork culture. Anna's father, Siby Joseph, reported she regularly worked overnight, till 12:30 am, despite their concerns. He claimed senior EY officials were informed about the excessive workload but took no action. In response to the incident, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor proposed a 40-hour work week to prevent similar tragedies. The incident has sparked concerns about workplace burnout and employee well-being. EY has not commented on the allegations.
