Argentina’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been handed a two-match ban by FIFA for "offensive behaviour" and violating fairplay principles. The ban follows his inappropriate act of holding a Copa America trophy replica to his groin after Argentina’s 1-0 World Cup qualifier victory over Chile on September 5. Martinez also faced sanctions for hitting a TV cameraman’s camera after a 2-1 defeat to Colombia on September 10. The Argentine Football Association expressed strong disagreement with FIFA’s ruling. Martinez will miss Argentina's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia in October. Argentina currently leads the South American table with 18 points.
