Sonam Wangchuk Released, Prohibitory Order Withdrawn: Delhi Police Informs High Court

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and around 120 people from Ladakh have been released from detention, the Delhi High Court was informed by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. The detainees, who were protesting for Ladakh’s inclusion under the Sixth Schedule, were held at the Delhi border. The Delhi Police also withdrew its prohibitory order, which restricted assemblies in the capital. Advocate Prashant Bhushan noted that some individuals still face movement restrictions, despite the court's assurance that no legal provision is being violated. The Sixth Schedule governs tribal areas in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Mizoram.
