In a landmark ruling, the Delhi High Court has allowed a couple to access their deceased son’s frozen sperm for surrogacy, enabling them to potentially have a grandchild. Harbir Kaur and Gurvinder Singh, who lost their son Preet Inder Singh to Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2020, faced a four-year legal battle against the refusal of Ganga Ram Hospital to release the semen sample. Justice Prathiba Singh ruled that parents can inherit sperm if no spouse or children are present. The couple aims to carry on their son’s legacy, with one daughter agreeing to be the surrogate.
