Wimbledon will replace traditional line judges with an AI-powered electronic line calling system starting from the 2025 tournament. The All England Club confirmed the decision after testing the technology during this year’s Championships. The system, known as Hawk Eye Live, reacts within a tenth of a second and will ensure maximum accuracy. Although popular with players, the move marks the end of over a century of human line judging, a key part of Wimbledon’s tradition. Chair umpires will remain, but Hawk Eye challenges, loved by fans, will be replaced with automatic calls.
