Two men, Parashuram Waghmore and Manohar Yadave, accused of murdering journalist Gauri Lankesh, received a grand welcome from pro-Hindu groups in Vijayapura after being granted bail by a Bengaluru court on October 9. The duo, who spent six years in prison, was celebrated with garlands and chants upon their return. They visited a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji and offered prayers at the Kalika temple. A pro-Hindu leader claimed their imprisonment was unjust, asserting that the real culprits remain at large. Lankesh was shot dead in 2017, sparking national outrage over threats against journalists.
