The BJP has released its first candidate list for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, naming 66 candidates for 68 seats. Former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi will contest from Dhanwar, while Champai Soren and Sita Soren will represent Saraikela and Jamtara, respectively. Champai, who recently switched from the JMM, expressed feeling "humiliated" after his brief tenure as Chief Minister. Sita, expelled from the JMM, cited "isolation" within the party. Elections for the 81-member assembly will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with results to be declared on November 23.
