Fraudsters impersonate government officials, primarily from law enforcement agencies, and contact victims via phone calls before moving to video calls on platforms like WhatsApp and Skype. In response to these scams, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the issue during his "Mann ki Baat" radio broadcast, advising the public to be cautious. He emphasized the importance of the mantra "stop, think, and take action" when confronted with such scams, reiterating that "digital arrest" is not a legal concept.
