Indian and Chinese troops commenced coordinated patrolling in Demchok, Eastern Ladakh, following successful disengagement in the area on Wednesday. Patrolling in Depsang is expected to begin shortly, an Indian Army source confirmed. This step completes the disengagement at all friction points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) since the standoff began in May 2020. On Diwali, troops from both countries exchanged sweets at five Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) points along the LAC. The breakthrough follows recent negotiations, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stating that the agreement on patrolling aims to resolve tensions dating back to 2020.
