India has submitted its National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) to support global biodiversity goals, pledging 23 targets under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Key goals include restoring 30% of degraded ecosystems and controlling invasive alien species. The action plan aims to tackle biodiversity threats such as pollution, species overexploitation, and climate change, while also ensuring sustainable use of resources. India will need significant funding, with estimated annual costs rising to over Rs 81,000 crore from 2024 to 2030. This plan supports India’s vast biodiversity, which includes 8% of the world’s plant and animal species.
