Thiruvananthapuram International Airport will suspend flights for five hours on November 9, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., to allow the centuries-old Alpassi Arattu procession of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple to pass through the runway. This bi-annual tradition has been preserved since the airport’s establishment in 1932, following a directive by the former Travancore King Sree Chithira Thirunal, who dedicated two days a year for the deity’s procession. TIAL confirmed that updated flight schedules are available with airlines, and a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued. The ritual continues under the Adani Group's management of the airport.
