36 Killed, 19 Injured as Bus Falls into Gorge in Uttarakhand; Rs 4 Lakh Aid Announced for Families

A tragic accident in Uttarakhand's Almora district claimed 36 lives when a bus fell into a gorge while traveling from Pauri district to Nainital’s Ramnagar on Monday. Nineteen passengers sustained injuries. Authorities suspect overloading as a cause, and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced Rs 4 lakh aid for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also pledged Rs 2 lakh for the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. Rescue operations by NDRF and SDRF are ongoing at the site.
