West Bengal's Forest Affairs Minister, Jyotipriya Mallick, a prominent member of the Trinamool Congress and part of the I.N.D.I.A Alliance, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged ration scam following raids at his residence. The arrest triggered accusations of vendetta from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who criticized the Centre's misuse of government agencies. Mallick, previously in charge of the Food and Civil Supplies department, claimed to be a victim of conspiracy. This incident follows the ED's arrest of former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and his aide earlier this year in relation to a teachers' recruitment scam.
