The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided 17 locations across Jharkhand and West Bengal on Tuesday as part of a money laundering investigation linked to alleged illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals. The raids are connected to an ongoing probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which was initiated in September to investigate the trafficking of Bangladeshi women into Jharkhand, resulting in suspected illicit financial activities. The raids come ahead of Jharkhand’s assembly elections starting November 13, with the first voting phase tomorrow, and by-elections in six West Bengal seats.
