The blaze erupted late Friday night in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which housed 47 infants, exceeding its capacity of 18. Authorities suspect a short circuit caused the fire. Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak announced DNA tests to identify some victims and promised financial aid—₹10 lakh for the deceased’s families and ₹50,000 for the injured.
