Six bodies, including three women and three children from the Meitei community, were found days after their abduction by suspected Kuki militants from Jiribam district, Manipur. Initial discoveries were made at Assam's Silchar morgue. Laisharam Herojit, whose family members were among the deceased, recounted his wife’s desperate call before the abduction. Authorities recovered weapons, including AK rifles, during encounters where 10 militants were killed. Protests erupted at Silchar Medical College as Kuki groups demanded the bodies remain in Silchar. A probe is ongoing as tensions escalate in the region. "We are devastated," Herojit said.
