Large-scale violence erupted in Manipur’s Imphal Valley as mobs attacked the residences of several ministers and MLAs, including Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s private home, over the discovery of six bodies, including an infant, in Jiribam. Protests led to arson and ransacking, prompting police to arrest 23 people and recover weapons. A total curfew was imposed in Imphal East and West, with internet suspended for two days. Ministers Sapam Ranjan, L Susindro Singh, and Y Khemchand, among others, were targeted. The police said, “Eight persons were injured during mob dispersal.” Security forces remain deployed to restore order.
