The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has accused Gautam Adani of offering a Rs 1,750 crore bribe to Andhra Pradesh officials during a 2021 meeting with then-Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. Allegedly, this was to secure a 7 GW solar power deal with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The SEC claims Adani promised “incentives” to overcome the state’s reluctance. Jagan Reddy’s YSRCP denies direct agreements with Adani, stating SECI and Discoms signed the deal. Adani called the allegations baseless, promising legal action, while TDP remains silent.
