Bangladesh authorities have frozen the bank accounts of 17 individuals associated with the Hindu spiritual group Iskcon, including recently arrested monk Chinmoy Krishna Das. The accounts will remain frozen for 30 days following an order from the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU). This action comes a day after the Bangladesh High Court rejected a plea to ban Iskcon. The monk, arrested on November 25 on sedition charges, is accused of disrespecting the Bangladesh flag during a protest for Hindu safety. The move has drawn international criticism, with India urging Bangladesh to protect minority rights.
