Eknath Shinde was sworn in as Maharashtra's deputy chief minister in Mumbai today. This came after days of talks over power-sharing within the Mahayuti alliance. Devendra Fadnavis took oath as chief minister, with Ajit Pawar as the second deputy CM. Shinde is set to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the allocation of the home portfolio, a key demand from the Shiv Sena. The BJP-led alliance secured 235 of 288 seats in last month’s assembly elections, with the BJP as the largest party. Shinde has assured full support to Fadnavis’s leadership.
