Sanjay Malhotra, a 1990-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor. He will replace Shaktikanta Das, whose term ends on December 10. Malhotra, an IIT Kanpur graduate with a Master’s from Princeton, has over 33 years of experience in finance, taxation, and governance. Previously, he served as Revenue Secretary and held key positions in the Ministry of Finance. Das, who led the RBI since 2018, was praised for his steady leadership and earned global recognition. Malhotra will serve as the 26th RBI Governor for a term of three years.
