Lone JDU MLA Withdraws Support From BJP Government In Manipur, Joins Opposition

In Manipur, the Janata Dal (United) withdrew support from the BJP-led government as its lone MLA, Md. Abdul Nasir, moved to the Opposition benches. This follows the defection of 5 out of 6 JDU MLAs to the BJP after the 2022 state elections. While this shift won't affect the BJP's majority, it signals political discord as Nitish Kumar's JDU plays a key role in the INDIA bloc. Ksh Biren Singh, JDU’s state leader, confirmed the move through a letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. BJP currently holds 37 seats in the 60-member Assembly, supported by allies and Independents.
