Opposition leaders demanded a discussion in Parliament and a list of the deceased. They also protested, calling for accountability. The crowd had broken barricades as millions rushed for a holy dip. The Supreme Court refused to hear a PIL on the incident, directing the petitioner to approach the High Court.
