The Supreme Court has directed the Assam government to deport 63 illegal immigrants detained in the state. The court criticized the state for delays in deportation, questioning if they were waiting for an "auspicious time" to act. Justice Oka said, “Are you waiting for some ‘muhurat’ to deport them?" Justice Bhuyan also added, “Once you declare a person a foreigner, you must take the next logical step.” The court questioned the lack of a proposal to the Ministry of External Affairs and instructed Assam to complete the deportation process immediately.
