Atishi resigned as Delhi Chief Minister on Sunday after AAP’s massive defeat in the assembly elections, submitting her resignation to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The BJP secured 48 out of 70 seats, ending AAP’s decade-long rule. Atishi, who took office in September after Arvind Kejriwal stepped down over corruption allegations, retained her Kalkaji seat but saw key AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, lose. “This is not a time for celebration—this is a time to fight,” Atishi said, vowing to oppose the BJP’s rule. The Assembly was dissolved, and the BJP is set to form the next government.
