On February 22, 2025, a section of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district collapsed, trapping eight workers approximately 14 kilometers inside. The incident occurred during morning operations involving around 50 workers; while many escaped, eight remain unaccounted for. Rescue efforts have been challenging due to debris and water obstructing access. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) are on-site, working to clear the tunnel and establish contact. Authorities are providing oxygen, and top leaders have assured full support.
