TN CM Stalin Slams Amit Shah’s Push for Hindi, Warns of Threat to Regional Languages

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent advocacy for the acceptance of Hindi across India. In a social media statement, Stalin denounced Shah's remarks as an overt attempt to subjugate non-Hindi speakers, emphasizing that Tamil Nadu rejects any form of Hindi hegemony. He warned that such imposition could rekindle resistance reminiscent of the 1965 Anti-Hindi Imposition Agitations, urging the Union government to respect India's linguistic diversity. Stalin highlighted that promoting Hindi at the expense of regional languages undermines the nation's unity and cultural richness.
