IIT Baba Abhay Singh, an IIT-Bombay graduate turned ascetic, was detained in Jaipur after police found ganja in his possession. Officers acted on reports of a disturbance at his hotel but released him as the quantity was within permissible limits. Singh, who gained fame at the Maha Kumbh, claimed the marijuana was “prasad” and questioned why other ascetics were not arrested. “Almost every baba at Kumbh consumes ganja as prasad,” he said. Singh, who transitioned from aerospace engineering to spirituality, avoided further comments, stating, “It is my birthday, and I want to be happy today.”
