The controversy erupted after Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Bareilvi, President of All India Muslim Jamaat, called Shami a "criminal" for not observing his Roza while traveling. Mohamed, addressing the issue, stated that Muslims are permitted to skip fasting while traveling.
