For over 40 years, Chennai’s Sufidar Temple has been serving Iftar meals to Muslims during Ramadan, upholding a tradition of communal harmony. Started by Dada Ratanchand, a Hindu refugee from Sindh, this initiative sees Hindu and Muslim volunteers cooking for 1,200 people daily. Meals, including biryani, saffron milk, and fruits, are transported to Wallajah Masjid, where volunteers serve the fasting individuals. By wearing traditional Muslim caps, they show respect and solidarity. In a world often divided, this gesture of unity exemplifies how love and compassion transcend religious boundaries, strengthening interfaith bonds in Chennai.
