The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) seized 88 kg of gold bars, 19.66 kg of studded jewellery, and 11 luxury watches from a locked flat in Ahmedabad’s Paldi area. The gold, valued at ₹80 crore, bore foreign markings, indicating smuggling. The operation follows Kannada actor Ranya Rao’s gold smuggling case. The DRI also recovered ₹1.37 crore in cash. "This search is a major blow to illicit activities," the finance ministry stated. Further valuation of the jewellery and watches is underway, and investigations continue.
