A 21-year-old NEET aspirant, Devadarshini, died by suicide in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, overwhelmed by exam-related stress. This tragedy has ignited a political controversy, with AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami accusing the ruling DMK government of failing to fulfill its promise to abolish NEET and holding them responsible for the increasing number of student suicides. Palaniswami criticized Chief Minister MK Stalin, alleging that the DMK, in alliance with Congress, was instrumental in introducing NEET, thereby jeopardizing the medical aspirations of Tamil Nadu students.
