A deadly terror attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley left multiple tourists dead and 20 injured, as four masked gunmen opened fire indiscriminately. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility. Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, calling the perpetrators “inhuman animals.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently in Jeddah, spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and directed him to visit the site. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an intensive search operation. The incident, though rare in recent times, reignites concerns over tourist safety and militancy in Kashmir.
