Bitan Adhikari, a 36-year-old Kolkata resident working in the US, was among the victims of the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He had returned to Kolkata on April 8 to spend time with his wife and three-year-old son. The family embarked on a vacation to Kashmir on April 16, with plans to return on April 24. His cousin Dipak, who had advised the trip to alleviate financial stress, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke with Adhikari's wife, offering condolences and assuring government assistance in repatriating his remains.
