State governments across northern and western India have ordered widespread school closures following Pakistan’s recent offensive. In Punjab, all schools—government, private, and aided—are shut for three days, with six border districts (Ferozepur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran) closed indefinitely. Jammu & Kashmir has suspended classes on May 9–10 in Baramulla, Kupwara, Gurez, and areas near Srinagar and Awantipora airports. Rajasthan halted government and private schools in Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Barmer, with all Jodhpur colleges also closed. Authorities cite precautionary safety measures amid heightened India–Pakistan tensions after India’s anti-terror strikes and the April 22 Pahalgam attack. (PC: India Today)
